→Polypropylene Strapping (PP Strap). The properties of the plastic PP strap are custom-made to suit the requirements of the various industries and various brands of strapping equipment.
Polypropylene PP Straps, both oriented or tensilized, are designed for light to medium duty unitizing, palletizing and bundling. Polypropylene PP Straps are typically considered an economical alternative to Polyester PP Straps and are available in various widths, thicknesses, and polymer variations (e.g., copolymers). Polypropylene PP Straps offers higher elongation at break but tends to have irrecoverable dead stretch with constant stress. What is not generally known to end users is that polypropylene strapping loses about 50% of the applied tension within one hour, and that this tension loss is accelerated with increases in ambient temperature. Although the properties of polypropylene strapping are suitable for packs with a degree of stored energy that will take up any relaxtion that occurs in the strap, unacceptable strap slackness may occur after time if used on ‘solid’ products like bricks or concrete.
